Facts about Stress in the Work Place and how businesses are seeking out inexpensive ways of increasing productivity and lowering health cost. Information obtained from Health & Safety Canada.

Massage In The Workplace

A recent study launched by Health & Safety, has revealed that every day of the week at least 270,000 people are absent from work with a stress-related illness. Therefore stress is definitely a major contributor to decreased company productivity and therefore decreased company profits.

Because of this, businesses are seeking out inexpensive ways of increasing productivity and lowering health costs. Indian Head Massage is an ideal tool for this! It can help reduce stress and fatigue, increase mental clarity, relax and rejuvenate and therefore help productivity by reducing time lost through absenteeism and medical appointments. As an added bonus, it shows the company's commitment to its employees, promoting a feeling of value and appreciation which will improve morale, as well as reducing stress-related illness.

Many people these days work in very stressful environments. Those who are desk bound in front of computer monitors suffer from bad posture, muscle fatigue and aches and pains. Employees who commute long distances are prone to 'road rage' during their journeys. What with phones ringing constantly, crashing PCs, deadlines to meet and conflicts with colleagues, is it any wonder that many workers feel frazzled? On top of this, it is thought that up to 17%  of workers do not have a lunch break which could help to dissipate this stress they feel constantly under. This stress can then lead to:

Bad decision making
Lack of organization
Widespread absenteeism
Low morale
Anxious, irritable or even depressed staff
Lost sales or client accounts
Decrease in productivity, and therefore, profits

Signs And Symptoms Of Stress

The Massage
The massage concentrates on the upper back, neck, arms, shoulders and head. Clients remain fully dressed, sit in a chair, and no oils are required. It is convenient, accessible and ideal for the work place. Employers simply have to provide a quiet area to take advantage of this service.

The Oxford School of Reflexology says:

Indo head massage is a technique of manipulating soft tissues in the shoulders and scalp. The therapist uses a range of different massage pressures and rhythms to stimulate the head and neck area. A typical massage lasts about 10 - 20 minutes.

Martin Olenroot has over 30 years experience in Indo-Head Massage. He recently obtained a certificate in Massage Techniques for Stress Reduction.
